Shokrniya Beauty Salon in Golden Ochre and White

A 947 sq ft (88 m²) beauty salon in Tehran, finished in golden ochre and glossy white. Folded ochre planes wrap the walls and ceiling and meet the white surfaces at sharp angles, with long light slots cut into the ceiling.

The styling stations have backlit mirrors and a long low bench lit from below, the pedicure chair sits in its own golden niche with wood-slat shelving, and the reception is a white glass box by the entrance. Plants along the windows soften the bright, graphic space. The salon was a 2018 ArchDaily Building of the Year nominee and won a Silver A’ Design Award in 2019.

Designed with my team at 4 Architecture Studio, where I was CEO and design principal, and I co-led the design. Published on ArchDaily in February 2017: see it on ArchDaily.
